Free Carrier or FCA Law and Legal Definition
'Free carrier' or FCA is a commonly used term in international sales contracts. Under FCA, a seller has to deliver the goods to the carrier nominated by buyer. Seller's obligation ends when he delivers the goods at the named place, cleared for export, to the carrier nominated by buyer. Buyer chooses the transport method and carrier. Buyer pays for the main transport. The costs and risks are transferred to buyer at the moment the carrier takes charge of the goods. Usually, seller delivers the goods to a named airport, terminal, or other place where the carrier operates.
