Furtum Conceptum is a Latin word used in Roman law. It refers to a theft which was disclosed upon searching someone in the presence of witnesses. The person should be discovered in possession of stolen property. The possessor of the stolen goods was liable to pay the owner three times the value of the stolen property. However, the possessor could bring an action against the thief and recover triple damages.
