Labes realis qua rei inhaeret means a real defect attached to a thing. Any person may plead a real defect to a document. For example, forgery to a document is a real defect and can be pleaded by the holder. Such a plea if proved will render the deed void. In case of theft, a true owner can vindicate his/her right and recover his subject on finding the stolen property.
