Land cop is a type a conveyance of land that existed long back. It involves sale of land which is evidenced by the transfer in court of a rod or festuca as a symbol of possession. The seller hands the rod to the reeve and the reeve hands it to the purchaser. The conveyance was done in court to provide better evidence of the transfer and to bar the claims of expected heirs.
