Land Titles and Transfer Act Law and Legal Definition
Land Titles and Transfer Act (“Act”) is an 1875 statute requiring registration for titles to real property. It was first enacted in New Zealand. The Act provides for transfer of property. The Act also requires recording of those transfers. The Act is very similar to American recording laws, such as those providing for a registry of deeds. However, a system of title registration superseded this Act in 1925.
