Large Investor Risk Law and Legal Definition
Units or shares of a mutual fund may be purchased and redeemed by large investors, such as institutional investors or other mutual funds. These investors may purchase or redeem large numbers of units or shares of the mutual fund at one time. The purchase or redemption of a substantial number of units or shares of a mutual fund may require the mutual fund to change the composition of its portfolio significantly or may force the mutual fund to purchase or sell investments at unfavorable prices, which can affect the mutual fund’s performance and may increase realized capital gains of the mutual fund.
