Law Enforcement Assistance Administration Law and Legal Definition
The Law Enforcement Assistance Administration (LEAA) was a U.S. federal agency established pursuant to the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968. It was a part of the U.S. Department of Justice. The LEAA was responsible for administering the federal funding to state and local law enforcement agencies. It administered the funding for educational programs, research, state planning agencies, and local crime initiatives. The LEAA was abolished in 1982.
