The term lawyer for a party in the context of arbitration refers to a lawyer who is hired by a party to represent him/her in the arbitration proceeding. Any lawyer or law firm engaged in the practice of law that is currently associated with the lawyer hired to represent a party in the arbitration is also refered to as a lawyer for a party [Cal Rules of Court, Standard 2 (m)].
