Leges Barbarorum Law and Legal Definition
Leges barbarorum is a Latin term which means the law of the barbarians. It often refers to the customary laws of medieval European law or the customary laws of Indo-European tribes during the middle ages. It also means the first written collections of Germanic law which date from the 5th century until the 9th century. Leges barbarorum are written in Latin and show Roman influence by their application of technical terms of Roman law. It is also called as folk law.
