Length of Stay (LOS) Law and Legal Definition
Length of stay (LOS) means the number of days that a member stayed in an inpatient facility during a single episode of hospitalization. Days of stay in a hospital as inpatient are calculated by subtracting day of admission from day of discharge. The length of stay of a person who enters the hospital and leaves the hospital as inpatient in the same day is one day.
