Libera lex is a Latin term. It means ‘free law.’ In early days, the term was used to refer to the law of the land. It referred to the law enjoyed by free and lawful men, as opposed to those who had lost the protection and privileges offered by the law as result of committing crimes. Libera lex is the aggregate rights of a freeman or citizen.
