License Period (Gaming Law) Law and Legal Definition
License period with regard to gaming is the period for which a license is granted to a gaming organization to carry on gaming activities. The time and period would be stated in the license. It varies from state to state.
The following is an example of state statute (New York) defining the term.
Pursuant to [NY CLS Gen Mun § 186 (15)] License Period shall mean a period of time not to exceed fourteen consecutive hours and, for purposes of the game of chance known as a bell jar and a raffle, "license period" shall mean a period of time running from January first to December thirty-first of each year.
