Lifeline [Transportation] Law and Legal Definition
According to 49 CFR 214.7 [Title 49 – Transportation; Subtitle B Other Regulations Relating to Transportation; Chapter II Federal Railroad Administration, Department of Transportation; Part 214 Railroad Workplace Safety; Subpart A – General], lifeline means “a component of a fall arrest system consisting of a flexible line that connects to an anchorage at one end to hang vertically (vertical lifeline) or to an anchorage at both ends to stretch horizontally (horizontal lifeline), and that serves as a means for connecting other components of a personal fall arrest system to the anchorage.”
