Limited-Purpose Marriage Law and Legal Definition
A marriage in which the parties agree to be married only for certain reasons is referred to as a limited-purpose marriage. An example of such a marriage is where the parties agree to marry so that a child will not be born illegitimate; however, they agree not to live together or to have any duties or obligations toward each other. Courts recognize these marriages to be binding for all purposes.
