Literacy Worker [Education] Law and Legal Definition
According to 34 CFR 1100.5 (b) [Title 34 – Education; Subtitle B -- Regulations of the Offices of the Department of Education; Chapter XI -- National Institute for Literacy; Part 1100 -- National Institute for Literacy: Literacy Leader Fellowship Program; Subpart A – General], the term literacy worker means “an individual who is pursuing a career in adult literacy or family literacy (as defined above) or a related field and who has a minimum of five years of relevant academic, volunteer or professional experience in the adult literacy, family literacy, adult education, or related field. Relevant experience includes teaching, policymaking, administration, or research.”
