An MRI, which stands for magnetic resonance imaging, is a painless non-invasive medical test used to produre two dimensional images of the structures of the body. The process uses intense magnetic fields to make images of the inside of the object. It is a method of creating images of the inside of opaque organs in living organisms as well as detecting the amount of bound water in geological structures.
