Maintenance of Membership (Labor) Law and Legal Definition
Maintenance of Membership is a union security system under which an employee binds himself to remain a member for the duration of the union contract once s/he joins the union, or if already a member. S/he may resign during the escape period. But s/he does not do so membership has to be maintained until the duration of the contract.
