Major Professor or Thesis Advisor Law and Legal Definition
A thesis is the document containing result of a research. Thesis advisor works as an advisor to a research student. S/he works closely with a student in:
Planning and choosing a research plan;
Conducting the research; and
Presenting research results.
Working in a group research, a major professor serves as the head of a group of faculty members. A major professor reviews programs, their progress, and results. The advisor and student do not start as equals. At first, the relationship is essentially an apprenticeship. In a later stage, the relation develops to one of colleague.
