Marine-Rescue Doctrine Law and Legal Definition
Marine rescue doctrine is a legal principle which sets the standard for rescue of a person on a ship, who goes overboard. If a person who goes overboard can be seen, the ship must use all reasonable means to retrieve the person from the water. If the person cannot be seen, the ship must search for the person as long as it is reasonably possible that the person is still alive.
