The term mental health agency refers to an agency of a State or local government or its contracted agency that provides and is responsible for mental health services or co-occurring mental health and substance abuse services. The main objective of mental health agency is to provide a wide range of quality mental health services to medicaid recipients and other low-income non-insured county residents.
