Microfinance Institution Law and Legal Definition
Pursuant to 22 USCS § 2214a (8) [Title 22. Foreign Relations And Intercourse; Chapter 32. Foreign Assistance; International Development; Other Programs; Microenterprise Development Assistance; Miscellaneous Provisions], the term microfinance institution means “a not-for-profit entity or a regulated financial intermediary that directly provides, or works to expand, the availability of credit, savings, and other financial services to microfinance and microenterprise clients in foreign countries.”
