Minority Enterprise Small Business Investment Companies Law and Legal Definition
Minority Enterprise Small Business Investment Companies or MESBIC are government-chartered venture firms. These firms are allowed to invest only in companies that are at least 51 percent owned by members of a minority group or persons. Further, the minority group or persons should be recognized by the rules governing MESBIC to be "economically disadvantaged."
