Monitoring the Illegal Killing of Elephants (MIKE) Law and Legal Definition
Monitoring the Illegal Killing of Elephants (MIKE) is a monitoring system established to contribute to an assessment of the impact of decisions on the illegal hunting of elephants. MIKE is adopted under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). The project mainly targets selected sites in Africa and Asia. The project includes population surveys at each site every two years and routine collection of other information, such as the number of elephants killed illegally and law enforcement measures and capacity.
