Motion Picture Engagement Law and Legal Definition
Motion picture engagement is an employment in a motion picture. It can also refer to an employment in any form of entertainment that depict any story by sound and a sequence of images giving a feeling of continuous movement. In such employment, a person may be employed as an actor, director, cameraman, or in any other role related to motion picture.
The following is an example of a state statute (California) that defines the term ‘Motion picture engagement’:
Pursuant to Cal Lab Code § 1700.1.(b), 'motion picture engagement' means any engagement or employment of a person as an actor, actress, director, scenario, or continuity writer, camera man, or in any capacity concerned with the making of motion pictures.
