Multi-Year Contract Law and Legal Definition
Multi-year contract” means a contract for services over a period of time greater than a year. A multi-year contract may provide that performance under the contract during the second and subsequent years of the contract is contingent upon the appropriation of funds, and subsequently provide for a cancellation payment to be made to the contractor if appropriations are not made. Each party makes a commitment to perform as articulated in the contract and related administrative documents for the entire duration of the multi-year period. However, a multi-year contract can also be formally amended by mutual agreement throughout its duration.
