Multiculturalism Law and Legal Definition
Multiculturalism is a doctrine of state policy which provides active encouragement and support to the co-existence of multiple cultures within a same territory. These policies encourage persons belonging to different ethnic, religious or linguistic minorities to enjoy their own culture, to profess and practice their own religion or to use their own language. Many countries like Canada and Nova Scotia have multiculturalism statutes which encourages recognition and acceptance of multiculturalism as an inherent feature of a pluralistic society.
