Museums Law and Legal Definition
Museums are operated by a wide variety of individuals and entities, such as:
- State Museum
- museums owned by the juridical persons of public law
- municipal museums
- museums of private ownership
- other types of museums
Museums may be required to be registered in accordance with local legislation and aim to reveal, register, collect, protect, study and preserve the cultural heritage as well as to exhibit and popularize it.
Governmental museums may be required to ensure:
- full (adequate) protection of museum exhibits
- registration and systematization of museum funds
- publication of the exhibits preserved at the museum
- accurate record-keeping
- carrying out large-scale scientific and educational work
