Paraphernalia Law and Legal Definition
The word paraphernalia means things beyond the dowry. It is the name given to the movable properties of a wife. Paraphernalia includes a wife’s clothing and jewelry which belonged to her before marriage. It also includes gifts of a similar character given by her husband before or on the day of marriage. Paraphernalia includes cabinets or wardrobes in which such things were kept. A husband was not able to sell, appropriate, or convey good title to these assets without her separate consent.
