Parent Child Immunity Law and Legal Definition
Parent child immunity is the immunity parents have from tort actions by their children for personal injury. This immunity has been retained by most states. The purposes behind this type of immunity are to preserve family harmony, preserve family assets, and to preserve the authority of parents to control the manner in which their children are raised. However, parent child immunity does not apply in international tort cases or in auto accident cases covered by insurance.
