Party in the context of law means an individual person or a legal entity such as a partnership or corporation. Party with reference to an action means a person who is described in the court of record as plaintiff or defendant. Thus it means a person by or against whom a legal suit is brought. It also means a person who is takes part in any affair, transaction or any proceeding. The term party in common parlance means a gathering of people on the basis of an invitation for the purposes of socializing, recreation and conversation.
