Paying Agency Law and Legal Definition
According to 5 CFR 179.203 [Title 5 Administrative Personnel; Chapter I Office of Personnel Management], paying agency means "the agency of the Federal Government which employs the individual who owes a debt to an agency of the Federal Government. In some cases, Office of Personnel Management (OPM) may be both the creditor agency and the paying agency."
