Payment Fraud Law and Legal Definition
Payment fraud refers to a fraud that takes place when fraudulent transactions are performed under a payment card. It occurs as a result of account takeover, or by the use of a counterfeit card with the customer’s account number. An intentional manipulation or alteration of facts by a treating dentist, resulting in lowering of payment to the beneficiary or the treating dentist also comes within the preview of payment fraud.
