the term point value signifies the relative value of an empty container of a certain size and type in a depot location and point values system serves to quantify the imbalance costs resulting from a full container move and is the result of empty optimization calculations. Point values are created on forecasted container flows between depot locations after taking into account the forecasted imbalances in addition to repositioning, storage and container costs for empty moves. Point value is expressed in U.S.Dollars.
