Port Security Training Program Law and Legal Definition
The Port Security Training Program (“Program”) is a federal program that is established to prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from threatened or actual acts of terrorism, natural disasters, and other emergencies. It is established pursuant to 6 USCS § 911. The following are the objectives of the Program:
1.Providing multiple disciplines to federal, state, and local government officials, commercial seaport personnel and management, and governmental and nongovernmental emergency response providers ;
2.Providing training at the awareness, performance, and management and planning levels;
3.Utilizing multiple training mediums and methods;
The Program prepares facility security plans and procedures that are adjusted when threat levels increase. It also provides facility security force operations and management. The Program develops methods of security for preventing and countering cargo theft. It also helps in the operation and maintenance of security equipment and systems. The Program also helps in developing security incident procedures that includes procedures for communicating with governmental and nongovernmental emergency response.
