When used in the context of military law, the term ‘pretrial investigation’ refers to a preliminary inquiry of a reported or suspected violation of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. It is also termed preliminary inquiry. A military personnel may have to submit to such investigation if he is suspected of violating the Code.
