Primary care doctor is a doctor who gives the basic care. They are the main health care provider in non-emergency situations. They provide both the first contact for a person with an undiagnosed health concern and continuing care of varied medical conditions.
The term is used to refer the first doctor a patient visits for most health problems. They provide preventive care, teach healthy lifestyle choices, identify and treat common medical conditions, assess the urgency of a patient’s medical problems, direct patients to the best place for their care, and make referrals to medical specialists when necessary.
