Production Facility Law and Legal Definition
According to 42 USCS § 2014 [Title 42. The Public Health And Welfare; Chapter 23. Development and Control of Atomic Energy; Atomic Energy; General Provisions], the term "production facility" means (1) any equipment or device determined by rule of the Commission to be capable of the production of special nuclear material in such quantity as to be of significance to the common defense and security, or in such manner as to affect the health and safety of the public; or (2) any important component part especially designed for such equipment or device as determined by the Commission. Except with respect to the export of a uranium enrichment production facility, such term as used in chapters 10 and 16 [42 USCS § 2131 et seq. and § 2231 et seq.] shall not include any equipment or device (or important component part especially designed for such equipment or device) capable of separating the isotopes of uranium or enriching uranium in the isotope 235.
