Professionally Recognized Standards of Health Care Law and Legal Definition
Professionally recognized standards of health care means statewide or national standards of care issued either in writing or otherwise, and which is recognized by the professional peers of the individual or entity as applying to those peers practicing or providing care within a state. When the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has declared a treatment procedure as not safe and effective, then the practitioners who employ such treatment procedure will be deemed as not meeting the professionally recognized standards of health care. However, this does not mean that all other treatments meet the professionally recognized standards of care.
