Progressive System (Gaming Law) Law and Legal Definition
Progressive system means a computerized system which links slot machines in one or more licensed facilities within a state, and offers one or more common progressive payouts based on the wagered amounts.
Progressive System is also referred to a system of gambling in which a person bet more when one is winning and less when losing. It is a way which a gambler adopts, by slowly progressing the bets after a win and decreasing the bet to the minimum when s/he loses. This is called a positive progressive system. In a negative progressive system one increases bets while losing in hopes of getting back to even after a loss.
The following is an example of state statute (Florida) defining the term Progressive system:
Fla. Stat. § 551.102(7) defines progressive system as “a computerized system linking slot machines in one or more licensed facilities within this state or other jurisdictions and offering one or more common progressive payouts based on the amounts wagered”.
