Proof of Distillation Law and Legal Definition
According to 27 CFR 19.11 [Title 27 Alcohol, Tobacco Products and Firearms; Chapter I Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau, Department of the Treasury; Subchapter A Alcohol; Part 19 Distilled Spirits Plants], proof of distillation means the composite proof of the spirits at the time the production gauge is made, or if the spirits had been reduced in proof prior to the production gauge, the proof of the spirits prior to such reduction, unless the spirits are subsequently redistilled at a higher proof than the proof prior to reduction.
