Property Tort Law and Legal Definition
Property tort is an unlawful interference by one person with the enjoyment by another of his/her private property. It arises when the right invaded is a property right rather than a personal right. Property tort include:
1) trespass to land (entering someone's land without permission),
2) trespass to chattels (handling items owned by another without permission), and
3) conversion (taking possession of someone else's property with the intent not to return it).
