Propinquity is the state of being near. This word derives from the Latin term ‘propinquitas,’ meaning ‘nearness.’ It is one of the main factors leading to interpersonal attraction.
Propinquity refers to the physical or psychological proximity between people. Propinquity can mean physical proximity, a relationship[ between people, or a similarity in nature between things. There are different degrees of propinquity. For example, two people with same interests can have a higher propinquity, when compared with those with different interests.
