Protected Association Law and Legal Definition
Protected association means the right to join, assemble, and reside with others. A protected association is usually protected under the first and 14th amendments to the Constitution. Pursuant to 20 USCS § 1011, a student attending an institution of higher education on a full-or part-time basis should not be excluded from participation in, or be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination or official sanction under any education program, activity, or division of the institution directly or indirectly receiving financial assistance on the basis of participation in protected association.
