Provisional Airport [Aeronautics and Space] Law and Legal Definition
According to 14 CFR 119.3 [Title 14 Aeronautics and Space; Chapter I Federal Aviation Administration, Department of Transportation; Subchapter G Air Carriers and Operators for Compensation or Hire: Certification and Operations; Part 119 Certification: Air Carriers and Commercial Operators; Subpart A General], Provisional Airport means “an airport approved by the Administrator for use by a certificate holder for the purpose of providing service to a community when the regular airport used by the certificate holder is not available.”
