Public Delict Law and Legal Definition
Public delicts are those wrongs which affect the whole community by their hurtful consequences. It is a wrong for which the community as a whole takes steps to punish the offender. Distinguishing between these public and private delicts are important during a trial, because they may involve different types of damage awards.
