Public Guardian Law and Legal Definition
Public guardian is a guardian appointed by a court and is deemed to be an officer of the court. A public guardian may be appointed as guardian for many incompetent or incapacitated persons. S/he may be paid for services from public funds. S/he may also be paid from assets of the incapacitated person of concern, if assets of the ward are available. Public Guardian is employed to act as a guardian/conservator when no private person or agency is available or able to act in that capacity.
