Public Health Surge Capacity Law and Legal Definition
Public health surge capacity means the capacity to implement core public health activities such as mass prophylaxis and vaccination, risk communication and epidemiologic investigation, and other activities. Along with this, it also increases the ability of the public health system to increase their capacity for patient care but also for epidemiologic investigation. A public health surge capacity model has been developed and is being tested for the purpose of maintaining a public health disaster response labor pool that can be used to increase the public health workforce.
