Public Verdict Law and Legal Definition
Public verdict is a verdict delivered by the jury in open court. This type of verdicts are conclusive on the facts unless set aside. Once judgment is rendered upon a public verdict, it bars all future controversy in personal actions. In case of private or privy verdicts, it should be affirmed afterwards in open court. It has no validity unless so affirmed.
