Qualified Professional [Education] Law and Legal Definition
According to 34 CFR 396.4 (c) [Title 34 – Education; Subtitle B -- Regulations of the Offices of the Department of Education; Chapter III -- Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services, Department of Education; Part 396 -- Training of Interpreters for Deaf Individuals who are Deaf and Individuals who are Deaf-Blind; Subpart A -- General], the term qualified professional means “an individual who has either --
(1) Met existing national or state certification or evaluation requirements; or
(2) Successfully demonstrated equivalent interpreting skills through prior work experience.”
