Safety Law and Legal Definition
Safety means freedom from danger, risk, or injury. In other words, the condition of being safe. The definition of the term varies according to the context in which it is used.
Example of Federal Statutes defining the term safety
"motor vehicle safety" means the performance of a motor vehicle or motor vehicle equipment in a way that protects the public against unreasonable risk of accidents occurring because of the design, construction, or performance of a motor vehicle, and against unreasonable risk of death or injury in an accident, and includes nonoperational safety of a motor vehicle. [49 USCS § 30102]
"manufactured home safety" means the performance of a manufactured home in such a manner that the public is protected against any unreasonable risk of the occurrence of accidents due to the design or construction of such manufactured home, or any unreasonable risk of death or injury to the user or the public if such accidents do occur.[42 USCS § 5402]
